지멘스(Siemens) PLC는 국내에서의 점유율은 적지만 석유, 화학, 식품, 제약 등의 고정밀도, 고신뢰도가 요구되는 곳에 많이 사용되고 있다.
PLC의 각 제조사마다 PC에 설치해서 사용하는 전용의 프로그램 툴이 있는데, 지멘스 PLC의 프로그램 툴에는 ‘Tia Portal’이 있으며 시험용 버전을 아래 링크로 들어가서 다운로드 받을 수 있다.

(그림1)의 화면에서 해당되는 파일을 다운로드 받으면 된다.
그런데 파일을 다운로드 받아 설치를 시작하면 (그림2)와 같은 ‘재부팅’하라는 메시지가 뜬다.
처음 설치 시에 으레 한번 다시 시작하라는 메시지인 줄 알고 재부팅 하면 웬걸! 또 똑같은 메시지가 뜬다. 몇 번을 반복해도 마찬가지이다. 이것은 PC의 OS 버전과 PLC 설치 프로그램간의 매치가 안되어 발생하는 문제인 듯한데, 똑같은 문제로 시간을 허비하는 것을 방지하기 위해 본 컬럼을 작성하게 되었다.
해결하기 위해서는 PC의 레지스트리를 수정해야 한다.
PC의 레지스트리 편집기를 띄우는 방법은, 검색창에서 ‘reg’라고 치면 ‘레지스트리 편집기’ 메뉴가 나타나고 이를 실행하면 (그림3)과 같이 편집창이 뜬다. 다른 방법은 ‘명령 프롬프트’ 창에서 ‘regedit’라고 입력하면 된다.
여기에서 한 단계씩 찾아 들어가 ‘Session Manager’까지 간다.

오른쪽에서 ‘PendingFileRenameOperations’ 키를 클릭하면 그림과 같은 값들이 들어가 있는데 이들을 드래깅해서 (그림4)와 같이 삭제하고 확인을 누른다.
그 다음에 프로그램을 다시 설치한다.
이렇게 해서 해결이 되는 경우도 있으나, 필자의 경우는 해결이 되지 않았다.
(그림2)와 같은 재부팅 메시지가 여전히 반복되었다.
이와 같은 경우에 해결방안을 설명한다.
(그림5)와 같이 ‘Session Manager’ 오른쪽에 있는 ‘PendingFileRenameOperations’ 키에 커서를 놓고 마우스 우측을 클릭하면 메뉴가 팝업되는데 여기서 ‘이름 바꾸기’를 클릭한다. 그리고 이름을 (그림6)과 같이 ‘PendingFileRenameOperations2’로 바꾼다.
PendingFileRenameOperations → PendingFileRenameOperations2
그런 다음에 프로그램 설치를 다시 시도하면 (그림2)의 재부팅 메시지가 안나오고 (그림7)과 같이 설치를 진행하는 것을 볼 수 있다.
(그림8)은 설치 초기화를 지나 다음 단계로 진입한 모습이다.

+ Step 1: Download and extract the software with the password plc247.com
+ Step 2: Right-click the Step7_V5.6_Pro_2017 file and choose Mount
+ Step 3: Click Next to continue
+ Step 4: Agree to the terms of use of the software
+ Step 5: Select the features you want to install
+ Step 6: Next
+ Step 7: Select Install to begin installing the software
+ Step 8: Select Next 3 times
+ Step 9: Enter user information
+ Step 10: Continue to select Next
+ Step 11: Select No, License Tranfer Keys Later
+ Step 12: Continue to select Install
+ Step 13: Select OK at this step
+ Step 14: Select Skip
+ Step 15: Select Finish when the installation is complete
+ Step 16: Extract the Sim_EKB_Install file
+ Step 17: Run software Sim_EKB_Install with Admin permissions
+ Step 18: Follow the instructions as shown below
