본 연구의 목적은 대학생용 대인관계능력 척도를 개발하고, 그에 대한 타당도를 검증하고자 하였다. 먼저 대학생용 대인관계능력 척도를 위하여 대인관계 능력 관련 연구 및 문헌들을 고찰하여 대인관계능력에 대한 정의를 내리고 그에 따라 설정하였다. 문헌연구 및 기존 대인관계 관련 척도 분석과 대학생들의 대인관계능력 면담 내용 분석을 통해 기초 예비문항을 구성하였으며, 2차 내용 타당도 검증을 통해 각 문항의 이해도와 하위척도 문항의 적절성 등에 대해 검증하여 최종 예비문항 59문항이 선정되었다. 최종문항 선정을 위해 59문항의 대인관계능력 척도를 가지고 대학생 310명에게 검사를 진행하여 탐색적 요인분석과 신뢰도 검증을 실시하였다. 이렇게 개발된 대학생용 대인관계능력 척도의 구인타당도 검증을 위하여 확인적 요인분석과 대인관계문제, 자아존중감, 성인애착 척도와의 상관분석을 통한 공인타당도를 실시하였고, 그 결과 모두 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 대학생의 대인관계능력을 측정할 수 있는 척도를 개발하여 대학생들의 대인관계능력에 관한 경험적 연구의 토대를 제공했다는 점에서 의의를 가질 수 있으며, 대인관계능력 수준이 낮은 대학생들이 좀 더 건강하게 정서적으로 독립해 나갈 수 있도록 돕기 위한 프로그램을 개발하는 후속 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

The purpose of this study was to develop and verify the validity of an interpersonal relationship abilities scale for university students. A review of previous studies on interpersonal competence indicated that a five-factor solution is appropriate to measure the construct. Preliminary testing items were developed based on the definition suggested in previous research. Content validity was evaluated by expert panels and 31 items were constructed. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted in order to validate the construct validity. Correlation analyses with measures of interpersonal problems scale, adult attachment scale and self- esteem scale were employed in order to evaluate the convergent and discriminant validity of the measure. Results showed appropriate levels of construct and discriminant validity.
