실천한 공부 

■ 하루에 최소 1시간 토익에 투자

저는 직장인으로서 하루에 토익 공부에만 투자할 수 있는 시간은 많으면 2시간이었습니다. 

■ 주말에 몰아서 공부

보통 주말에 공부를 몰아서 했습니다. 하루에 어떤 일이 일어나서, 내 감정에 어떤 영향을 미칠지 예상할 수 없는 직장인이라.. 세세한 공부 계획은 세우지 않았습니다. 주말만큼은 나를 위해 투자하는 시간으로 채우자!하면 최대한 긍정적으로 생각하며 스벅과 독서실을 다녔습니다. 하루에 여러 군데를 다니는 편이었는데, 분위기 전환을 하면 기분이 쳐지지 않고, 오랜 시간 공부할 수 있더라고요. 

사용한 교재 

■ 문제집은 ETS 1000제 n회독 

ETS 1000제 RC, LC 1,2권을 예전에 다 풀어봤었는데요. 한 번 풀고, 정답 확인하고가 끝이었습니다. 그래서 이번에는 맞힌 문제도 유형파악하고, 보기 뜻 다 외우며 꼼꼼히 풀었습니다.

RC가 유독 약해서 5회독 했고, LC는 한 번씩만 다시 풀고, 고난이도 문제만 정리해서 자주 보고, 해당 문제 음원만 가끔 다시 들어보았습니다. 특히 파트2를 집중적으로 공부했는데 가지고 있는 토익 이론서(시원스쿨 850, ETS 종합서)에서 파트2 문제만 다시 풀었습니다. 

■ 긴장감을 위해 YBM 1000제(고난이도)

같은 문제를 며칠 간격을 두고 계속 풀다보니 자주 나오는 문법이 눈에 보이면서 쉬워지더라고요. 그래서 난이도가 있다는 YBM 1000제 3 기출문제를 풀었습니다. 파트5에서 기본 10개 틀리더라고요. 진짜 멘붕.. 그래도 시험 치기 전에 약점을 발견해서 기분을 좋았습니다. 다시 긴장감으로 가지고 꼼꼼히 공부하는 동기가 생기더라고요. 

■ 단어장은 직접 만들어서

많이 쓰이는 ETS, 해커스 보카집은 따로 보지 않았습니다. 풀었던 문제집 해설에 정리 되어 있는 단어를 따로 뽑아서 외웠거든요. 모르는 단어 나오면 구글 드라이브 문서에 바로바로 입력해두고, 그 파일을 굿노트로 불러와서 직접 빈 칸을 채우며 아침저녁으로 복습했습니다. 단어뿐만 아니라 간단한 문법/표현도 같이 적어두었습니다. 

팁

■ 오답/정리 노트는 단권화 

저는 편하게 복습하기 이해서 문제를 풀고 나서 쓰는 오답노트와 공부한 내용을 정리하는 노트를 합칩니다. 그래서 제 정 토익 정리 노트애는 단어 / 콜로케이션 / 간단한 문법 요점을 다 포함하고 있습니다. 제가 직접 정리한 노트를 보여드리겠습니다. 구글 드라이브로 만든 PDF 전자파일이고, 굿노트에서 열었습니다. 

특징1: 복습할 부분 빈 칸으로 두기

보통은 표현을 정리할 때 표 한 칸에 온전한 영어 단어를 적습니다. 'sustain damage'이런 식으로 말이죠. 하지만 저는 sustain(유지하다), damage(손상, 손상을 입히다) 두 단어를 다 알고 있었는데, 둘이 같이 쓰여 '손상 입다'라는 뜻을 가지는지 몰랐습니다. 그래서 두 단어의 조합을 확실히 기억하고 싶어서 '(     ) damage'라고 적었습니다.

다음 복습 때는 괄호를 채우기 위해 damage와 '손상입다'라는 뜻만 보고 'sustain'이라는 동사를 떠올려야 합니다.

이렇게 빈 칸 채우기식으로 정리하면 복습할 때 문제푸는 식으로 할 수 있어서 좋습니다. 

빈 칸을 채울 때는 아래처럼 스크린을 확대하여 뜻이 안보이게 합니다. 

▼ LC표현도 같이 정리

안 들렸던 단어나, 파트3,4의 패러프레이징 표현 같이 적어두었습니다. 파트1에 나온 표현으로 영어 발음은 다 알아들었지만 무슨 뜻인지 몰랐던 표현이있어요. across from each other인데요. 이렇게 익혀야할 단어/표현이 RC보다 조금 길더라도 다 적어둡니다. 

패러프레이징 표현도 who I want to attract : potential customers 처럼 :(콜론) 기호로 묶어서 적으면 됩니다. 페러프레이징 달달 외우는게 아니라 아침저녁으로 한번씩만 소리내서 읽으면서 '아~ 이렇게 바꿔서 표현할 수 있구나'라는 정도로 익숙해지면 됩니다.  

■ 자주 나오는 문법 포인트는 확실히 외우기

가장 효과를 많이 보았던 방법입니다. 문법 공부는 어휘보다 시간이 더 많이 걸리죠. 강의 듣고, 책 설명 읽고, 문제를 풀어도 볼 때는 알겠는데, 뒤 돌아서면 또 헷갈리더라고요. 토익에서 자주 나오는 문법 유형은 딱 정해져있는데, 시험에 나온다는 걸 알면서도 학습 내용을 외우지 않으니 새로운 문제를 풀어봤자 매번 무용지물이었습니다. 양보다는 질로 승부를 걸어야겠다고 생각했습니다. 

그래서 토익 빈출 표현들을 확실히 암기해보기로 했습니다. 문제를 보자마자 1초만에 답을 찾을 수 있도록 말이죠. '토익은 기출문제만 많이 풀면 되는거 아냐?'라고 생각하실 수 있는데, 제가 이 문제집, 저 문제집 많이 건너다니며, 문제만 많이 풀니까 공부에 들인 시간에 비해 효율은 없더라고요. 

그래서 토익에 자주 나오는 빈출 문법 포인트들을 직접 정리하고, 그 정리만을 위한 문제를 직접 만들어 풀었습니다. 제가 좋아하는(?) 빈 칸 채우기식과 실전처럼 객관식으로 말이죠. 툭 치면 툭 나올 정도로 반복해서 풀었습니다.

위에 출처에서 밝혔듯이, 해커스토익 1000제 2 리딩편을 보면서 파트5만 5회차정도 풀고, 나머지는 뤼이드 튜터로 보카랑 개별 문제를 풀면서 정리한 건데 틀리거나 해설보면서 관련된 단어/문구인데 뜻을 애매하게 알고있다고 생각되는 것들 위주로 정리해보았다

요새는 그냥 기출문제로도 많이 푸는것 같던데, 나는 명실공히 해커스가 토익의 일타아닌가.. 생각하는.. 옛날 사람인가..? 싶기도 하지만.. 아무튼 파트 5뿐이지만 해커스를 봤고, 파트5 오답개수는 편차가 좀있었지만 최고점은 2개 틀리고, 최저점은 5개틀렸던거같다. 내가 참고했던 문제집 해커스토익 실전 1000제는 쿠팡에서 판매순으로 나열해서 구매한건데, 알고보니까 문제집이 아니라 해설집이었다.

근데 또 다시 알고보니까 해설집이라고 해서 바로 답을 알려주는게 아니라 빈칸으로 문제가 있고, 그밑에 해설이 있어서 사실 문제풀때 문제만 보면 아무문제가 없고 오히려 빠르게 답확인이 가능해서 편리했다-! 역시 사람들이 많이 사는데에는 이유가 있어!!
